The Hunthausen Activity Center at Carroll College

The Hunthausen Activity Center at Carroll College is more than just a building; it’s a vibrant student hub designed to enhance both campus life and personal wellness. This $12.2 million, two-story facility spans 30,000 square feet and offers a variety of dynamic spaces where students can gather, stay active, and connect with one another. From its well-equipped gym and cardio rooms to dedicated classrooms and cozy lounges, the center nurtures both body and spirit.

The Great Hall: A Space to Gather and Reflect

At the heart of the center is the Great Hall, featuring an impressive glass wall that frames historic Saint Charles Hall, creating a visual connection between the past and the present. The hall opens up to outdoor patio spaces, inviting students to relax, reflect, and take in the serene views. Designed as the “living room” of the campus, the Great Hall fosters a welcoming environment for students to build a sense of community.

Honoring Heritage and Embracing Sustainability

Dedicated to Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen, a beloved Carroll alum and faculty member, the center reflects the values of the college with a focus on sustainability and stewardship. Earning LEED certification, the building integrates eco-friendly elements like daylighting, high-efficiency mechanical systems, and locally sourced materials, aligning with the college’s commitment to care for creation.
