Haynes Picture Shop Rehabilitation

Originally built in 1929 and known as the Haynes Picture Shop, the Haynes Administration Building stands as a piece of Yellowstone National Park’s rich history. Once a hub for capturing the park’s iconic vistas, the building underwent a thoughtful rehabilitation in 2016, breathing new life into its historic walls. This $6.9 million project, led by A&E Architects, preserved the building’s distinctive character while aligning it with modern sustainability and safety standards.

Honoring History, Embracing Modernity

The rehabilitation carefully balanced structural preservation with aesthetic enhancements, incorporating sustainable materials and energy-efficient systems to achieve LEED Gold certification. Through meticulous work, original elements were restored, ensuring that the building retained its historic essence. These efforts reflect a commitment to honoring the past while embracing the needs of the present.

A New Chapter for a Historic Landmark

Today, the Haynes Administration Building serves as a corporate office and call center for Xanterra Parks and Resorts, continuing its legacy of service within the park. As visitors pass through its doors, the building’s restored elegance and thoughtful upgrades connect the spirit of Yellowstone’s past with its evolving future.
