With over 20 years in the AEC industry, I’ve built a career around combining cutting-edge technology with creative design and practical construction solutions.  But when I’m not tackling the latest BIM issue, my family keeps things pretty lively. With my wife Molly and our five children, there’s never a dull moment at the Muir house. Whether we’re crafting in the real world or building virtual empires in Minecraft, I’m constantly inspired to innovate, both at work and at play.

Between work and play I often find myself out in the shop tinkering around on some project or another. I’m passionate about digital fabrication, robotics, and woodworking to name a few—but like any true Montanan I also love the outdoors, camping, and hiking with my family. Life is about blending passions, from the job site to the trails. Whether solving complex design challenges or working on projects with my kids, my drive comes from both my professional experience and my love of learning.

In my practice and through consulting, I help bridge the gap between technology and constructability, ensuring every project I take on is as practical as it is innovative—while always staying grounded in what matters most: working hard and playing more.

Professionally, I strike a balance between being playful and detail-oriented. I believe that fostering a collaborative, fun atmosphere leads to creativity and innovation. I enjoy tackling challenges with a positive attitude and a sense of humor, but I’m always grounded in the professionalism needed to get the job done right. Whether leading a team or working hands-on, I value open communication, adaptability, and a forward-thinking approach. My temperament is all about making sure the work is efficient, but also enjoyable along the way.

For me, every project is about following a clear process. As W. Edwards Deming said, “If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing.” This mindset keeps me grounded. I break down each challenge into manageable steps, ensuring efficiency and collaboration along the way. It’s about delivering work that meets high standards, every time—without surprises.
