With over 20 years in the AEC industry, I’ve built a career around combining cutting-edge technology with creative design and practical construction solutions.  But when I’m not tackling the latest BIM issue, my family keeps things pretty lively. With my wife Molly and our five children, there’s never a dull moment at the Muir house. Whether we’re crafting in the real world or building virtual empires in Minecraft, I’m constantly inspired to innovate, both at work and at play.

Between work and play I often find myself out in the shop tinkering around on some project or another. I’m passionate about digital fabrication, robotics, and woodworking to name a few—but like any true Montanan I also love the outdoors, camping, and hiking with my family. Life is about blending passions, from the job site to the trails. Whether solving complex design challenges or working on projects with my kids, my drive comes from both my professional experience and my love of learning.

In my practice and through consulting, I help bridge the gap between technology and constructability, ensuring every project I take on is as practical as it is innovative—while always staying grounded in what matters most: working hard and playing more.

  • 1982 -1996

    My Why

    Born in Missoula, Montana, I faced the challenges of growing up in and out of foster care and periods of homelessness. Early on, I learned that “home” is more than just a structure—it’s a sanctuary for the mind, body, & soul. This realization continues to fuel my passion for architecture and construction to this day.

  • 1996 - 2001

    First Job

    At 14, I began working in the trades alongside my grandfather. The experience taught me invaluable lessons in resilience, craftsmanship, and the power of vulnerability. These became the foundation for my core values – grit, integrity, & compassion.

  • 2001 - 2006

    US Navy

    Graduating from high school with less-than-optimal grades, I joined the U.S. Navy. It was here that I gained the discipline and resources to accelerate my path toward the professional practice of architecture.

  • 2006 - 2012

    MSU School Of Architecture

    My first art degree I received in ligula, porttitor eu, consequat vitae, eleifend ac, enim. Aliquam lorem ante, dapibus in, viverra quis, feugiat a, tellus.

  • 2013- 2014

    Dowling Studio Architects

    After earning my Master of Architecture from MSU, I began my professional career at Dowling Studio Architects in Helena, Montana. I gained hands-on experience across the entire design lifecycle. From schematic design through to construction administration, BIM, and managing key project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

  • 2015 - 2018

    A&E Architects

    At A&E Architects, I led various commercial projects and developed expertise in historical preservation and government contracts. I also helped implement BIM standards across the firm and integrated terrestrial laser scanning practices, fueling my interest in prefabricated building systems that would later shape much of my own work.

  • 2018

    Branching Out

    In 2018, I began consulting with Verify 3D LLC on VDC and BIM services for commercial projects. This period also marked my entry into independent residential design, where I combined my architectural background with cutting-edge construction technologies, driving innovative workflows that push the industry forward.

  • 2019 - 2020

    Encompass Design

    At Encompass Design, I led several multifamily projects, blending design expertise with hands-on construction management. I focused on integrating BIM and reality capture technologies, and explored prefabricated building systems to enhance project efficiency and workflows.

  • 2020 - Now

    Jackson Contractor Group

    As the BIM Manager at Jackson Contractor Group, I help to bridge the gap between design and construction, leveraging advanced technology to create spaces that feel like “home” for our clients. For me, it’s not about titles—it’s about uniting design and construction to bring imagination to life.
