Timpanogos Cave National Monument Visitor Center

Situated in the heart of American Fork Canyon, the Timpanogos Cave National Monument Visitor Center is designed to harmonize with its stunning natural surroundings while reflecting the monument’s commitment to preservation and education. This 4,000-square-foot facility, crafted with stone, board-formed concrete, and rustic wood, blends seamlessly into the canyon landscape. Its design not only addresses practical concerns like snow and rockfall hazards but also serves as a welcoming gateway for visitors exploring the monument’s unique underground world.

A Gateway to Exploration and Sustainability

Built to LEED Silver standards, the Visitor Center features sustainable elements such as energy-efficient lighting, native landscaping, and water bottle refill stations, all aligning with the National Park Service’s goal of conservation. Beyond the building itself, the project reimagined the surrounding roads and created a pedestrian plaza with outdoor educational spaces, enriching the visitor experience and enhancing safety.

Honoring the Monument’s Legacy

Inside the center, visitors can connect with the monument’s history through engaging exhibits and spaces that invite reflection and exploration. The Timpanogos Cave National Monument Visitor Center serves not just as a starting point for cave tours but as a space that embodies the spirit of conservation and stewardship central to the National Park Service’s mission.
